１．はじめに

　このドキュメントは，Solaris2.5.1にSolstice DiskSuite4.0をインストールする方法を説明する．

２．Solstice Disk Suite4.0とは

　Solistice DiskSuite4.0(以降DiskSuiteと略)とは，Solaris上で使用するディスク管理用ソフトウェアである．　メタディスクドライバという疑似デバイスドライバを使用することによって，入出力の処理効率を向上させる，また利用可能なディスク領域を増やすなどができる．

　平たく簡単に言うと，“Solaris上でソフトウェアRAIDを実現するもの”である．

　次のような機能が備えられている．

コンポーネントの障害からデータを保護する．　ディスクの３面ミラー化機能．
- RAID1のことかなぁ．NTでいうところのミラーセット．
複数の物理コンポーネントをより大きなメタデバイスに結合する，ディスク連結機能
- これはRAIDとは関係ないはずで，NTでいうところのボリュームセット．
複数のコンポーネントにデータ要求を分散する，ディスクストライプ機能．
- RAID0の事である．
GUIで，すべてのメタデバイスをアイコンで操作する事ができるDiskSuiteツール．
システムのリブートを高速化し，ディスクへの同期書き込みの回数を少なくするUFSロギング機能．
障害が発生したコンポーネントを自動的に交換する，ホットスペア機能．
メタデバイスの設定情報を安全なディスク装置上の状態データベース複製に保存する機能．
ディスク障害から復旧するためのRAIDレベル5．
ホストマシンとディスクドライブをディスクセットとしてグループ化し，ディスクセット内の全てのホストとドライブを接続する，ディスクセット機能

３．前提条件

　DiskSuite4.0を利用するには，以下のような前提条件がある．

GUIのDiskSuiteツール(metatool)を利用するにはMotif環境(CDE)が必要である．　よって，事前にCDEをセットアップしておく．(CDEのインストールに関してはドキュメント「Solaris Common Desktop Environment Version 1.01 インストール」を参照する)
UFSロギング機能はSolaris2.4以降が必要である．
ディスクセット機能は，Solaris2.4以降を使用しているSPARCマシンでサポートされており，x86システムでは利用不可である．
フルインストール時には次のようにディスクの空き領域が必要である．
- 約26Mbyte(/opt 25839k )
- 約08Mbyte(/usr 7686k)

４．インストールの開始

「」とかかれたCD-ROMをセットする
rootでログインする．
/cdrom/cdrom0に移動する．

root@duo# cd /cdrom/cdrom0
root@duo# ls

README     SUNWabmd   SUNWmd     SUNWmdgja  patches    scripts

pkgaddコマンドを入力する．　すると，次のように表示される．

root@duo# /usr/sbin/pkgadd -d `pwd`

ここで，インストールしたいパッケージを選択する．

インストールオプションを選択する．
データ量(説明文が多い)方の2を選択する．

AnswerBook Make sure to choose a parent directory on a file system big 
enough toaccommodate all the files to be moved for the INSTALL OPTION 
you selected.

Specify the parent of the AnswerBook home directory:

リターンキーを押す．　次のように表示され，デフォルトの/optディレクトリにインストールされることがわかる．

 For the heavy option all files will be placed under /opt/SUNWabmd.
Using </opt> as the package base directory.

## すでにインストールされているパッケージとの衝突がないか調べています。

## setuid/setgid を行うプログラムを検査しています。

９．インストールの終了後処理

　選択したプロダクトのインストールが全て終了したら，初期メニューに戻る．

ここでは，「このマシンをリブートして，Console Loginプロンプトがでるまで待ちなさい」となっている．
shutdown -y -i6 -g0を実行して，マシンをリブートする．

１０．インストールの確認

　pkginfoコマンドにより，DiskSuiteがインストールされたか否かを確認する．

　ちょっとややこしが，実際に利用したのはSolistice DiskSuite4.0で，マニュアルは4.1版を見ていたのであった．
